Who We Are

Plumflower Taekwondo was founded in 2014 by Head Coach Rachel Innes 4th Dan.

Rachel holds a 4th Dan black belt and has been teaching and practising World Taekwondo for twenty five years, helping students develop their full potential both in Taekwondo training and in life.

With extensive coaching and competition experience Rachel’s work includes working with students age 2yrs through to adult, teaching children and adults with learning challenges through the development of a programme designed to assist those affected by autism and cerebral palsey and offering out reach programmes to schools and companies.

After achieving her 1st Dan black belt in the USA in 2000 Rachel returned to the UK in 2001, and opened her first taekwondo school Vo’s 2 Taekwondo in East Sussex in 2003. Former students now run their own school in the same area.

Plumflower Taekwondo emphaises teaching the values of citizenship and respect both for oneself and others. Training and development is undertaken to provide students with the technical excellence to achieve their black belts. Plumflower Students also compete at national and international level.

As a competitor Rachel has competed extensively for Great Britain as part of their technical taekwondo team and nationally and internationally as a sparring competitor winning national champion in Technical Taekwondo in 2004 and Bronze medalist at the 2007 Great Britain Taekwondo championships (Sparring).

Humanitarian work has included visiting Sri Lanka in 2004 to aid with the efforts to assist those affected by the Tsunami disaster which also included training with the Sri Lankan army .

More recently, Rachel worked on the E45 skincare campaign as a performance martial artist.

Plumflower Taekwondo currently has advanced level students studying instructor courses as well as a competition team who regularly attend national competitions, is fully insured with the governing body for World Taekwondo in the UK (British Taekwondo).
